Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 7:00 pm: Public information session and appointments
for one-on-one meetings with analysts from the recovery service of the MSP

Friday, May 31, 2019 from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm (last appointment): Series of individual interviews
 by appointment with MSP Recovery Service Analysts
(Ideally these appointments should be made on Thursday evening during the session
public information)
Depending on the number of appointments recorded, an additional day of individual interviews
could be held as needed on Saturday, June 01, 2019 from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm (last
Appointment).

Please note that there will be no further information sessions after this one.

 

 *****Bulky items special collections****

For citizens with reduced mobility or no means of transport, 2 special bulky items collections will be held on May 21 and September 3.

Please leave bulky items on the side of the road only on these dates for them to be collected.

Thanks to the generosity of the population, partners, businesses and the Government of Quebec, the Red Cross has announced
the first direct financial assistance of $ 3 million to households affected by floods across Quebec. One representative from each affected home must register with the Red Cross and complete a brief confidential online questionnaire to verify
eligibility and identify their needs. Qualifying homes will receive, within 5 to 7 days after completing the form, $ 600 via wire transfer. This amount will be granted for
all people living at the same address.  Residents affected by the flooding who need psychosocial support can contact the Centre intégré de santé et des services sociaux de l'Outaouais (CISSSO). They are there to help and their services are free of charge.

 Do not hesitate to contact them at 811 option 2, or at 1-866-567-4036 option 2.

***IMPORTANT*** Thursday May 2 2019 5h30 PM - Reopening of Chemin de la Rivière-Blanche

  The municipality began working on the temporary rehabilitation of Chemin de la Rivière-Blanche yesterday. The work has now been completed and the road is reopened to local traffic, school buses, garbage / recycling trucks and emergency vehicles.

 Residents who have been affected by the flooding must ensure that they are registered with the Programme général d’indemnisation et d’aide financière lors de sinistres réels ou imminents – INONDATION at 1 888 643 2433 or at https://www.securitepublique.gouv.qc.ca/…/proprietaires-et-… (the English version of the website does not seem to have been translated yet). This is where you can follow up or obtain the information you need about compensation for temporary housing or cleaning / repair of homes. Residents are responsible for following up on their own. The municipality cannot do it for you.

  

Tuesday April 30 1h30 PM - Update - Chemin de la Rivière-Blanche

 This morning we had engineers come to inspect the road and evaluate the damages done by the recent flooding. We are going to start repairing the road tomorrow (Wednesday) on the basis of their recommendations (they will be sending their report very shortly). We ask you to continue to respect the road signs. We hope to reopen the road before the end of the week so cars, school buses, fire trucks and garbage/recycling trucks can use it safely.

UPDATE - Chemin de la Rivière -Blanche

 Today, April 29, there is no longer any water on the road, which unfortunately has been severely damaged in a number of places. Tomorrow around 9:00 a.m. an engineer will be on site to do an assessment of the damage and propose a solution so we can quickly repair the road and make sure it is safe for all. Until then, the road will remain closed for safety reasons. We ask you to please respect the road signs. Thank you for your collaboration.

  April 26 3:06 PM

We will install a garbage bin next to 285 chemin de la Rivière-Blanche. We ask you to bring your trash in garbage bags only and deposit into the container. For bulky items, we will do a special pick-up on May 21st for those who cannot bring them to the Ecocentre. For addresses from 1 to 285 chemin de la Rivière-Blanche, regular collection will take place.

The water level of the Blanche River has gone down over the last few hours, but things could change with the rain. We ask you to remain prudent.

The municipality has ordered bottled water for residents affected by the flooding on the River Road. You can pick up at the Municipal Center until 4 pm today and from 8 am to noon tomorrow.

 

 NOTICE TO OCCUPANTS

 EMERGENCY MEASURES -  2019

 Be advised that due to the advanced deterioration of the Rivière Blanche Road, the Ministère des Transports and the Ministère de la Sécurité publique are asking us to close the road between 285 and 549, chemin de la Rivière Blanche to all vehicular traffic, starting at 8 am tomorrow, Friday, April 26 2019.

 In case of emergency, emergency services (firefighters, police and paramedics) will not be able to access your residence. As a result, normal response times cannot be met, which could have serious consequences for the occupants.

 As a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of citizens, the Municipality of Mayo suggests that the residents of this area evacuate their homes. It is therefore strongly recommended to evacuate the premises.

 If you decide to leave your residence, be advised that the Municipality of Mayo has set up a Red Cross Help Center at the Municipal Center located at 20 McAlendin Road, Mayo, where you will be greeted and taken care of. The Red Cross will assist you regarding your accommodation as well as food and clothing needs. The Centre will be open today April 25 until 9:00 PM and tomorrow, Friday April 26 from 7:00 AM.

UPDATE - Wednesday April 24 - 9:30 AM

 Un engineer from the MTQ came to Mayo yesterday to do an preliminary assessment of the damages of the River Road surface. We are waiting for the results of this assessment. In the meantime, since it was mentioned that the road is in bad shape , we have put orange cones on a portion of the road that could potentially be very dangerous. We ask you to refrain from using the road as much as possible and to respect the cones. This is for your safety.

  The municipality of Mayo has to provide the Ministry of Public security a  list of all the permanent residences that have been affected by the flooding on the River Road so you can eventually be entitled to compensations. Staff from the municipality will drop by in early evening to ensure that no permanent residence is left off the list. If you have been affected by flooding in Quebec, please click here to register online or call 1-800-863-6582 to have a Red Cross representative help you from Monday to Sunday 9 am to 9 pm EST.
 
To register, you will be asked basic information about you and your household, such as your name, date of birth, email address, and home address.
 
Please note: You only need to register once for your household.  

 

It is important that if you are affected in any ways by the recent flooding you should register on both sites (or call) to get the maximum help.

 

****April 22 2019 update 4:00 PM 

The water level on the Rivière Blanche has dropped about 10 to 12 inches. The road remains submerged with levels of 2 to 3 feet of water in some places.

 

The base of the road has been severely damaged in several places. An engineer from the MTQ will come tomorrow morning to do a preliminary assessment of the damages so that we can start planning for the repairs. In the meantime, we remind you to be extremely careful if you must take the road and to respect the road signs and avoid using the road as much as possible.

 

If isolated residents wish to leave their residence and need accommodation, please contact the municipal centre at 819-986-3199 ext. 3 before 6 pm today or tomorrow from 7 am. We will put you in touch with a person in charge at the Red Cross.

 

For the Burke sector, no changes to report, please refer to the April 21 message.


The Sûreté du Québec and the Mayo and Mulgrave-et-Derry Fire Department, with the help of the municipality of Val-des-Bois, toured the disaster area on the chemin de la Rivière-Blanche with an amphibious vehicle and zodiac type boat  this afternoon. We remind you that you can always call 819-986-3199 ext. 3 for any questions or for assistance. For emergencies, please call 911.

****April 21, 2019 -  9h10

 We toured the municipal roads this morning. Burke Rd and Monaghan Rd have been stabilized, but Burke Rd east of Monaghan remains closed for an undetermined period of time. We have requested a plan and specifications for the installation of a culvert.

 

Rivière-Blanche sector: the water level seems to have stabilized. We continue monitoring the situation  For any emergency, please call 911 and for more information please call us at the municipal office at 819-986-3199 ext. 3.

To the residents who are isolated because of the flooding (River Road and other roads along the Blanche River): the firemen will go and visit you and encourage you to leave, they will have a zodiac for areas where the road has disappeared. 

A volunteer from the Red Cross will be at the municipal building on McAlendin Rd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for those of you who are in flood zone and need assistance with shelter, food or clothes. Please contact the municipality if you have any questions - 819-986-3199 ext.3

The local state of emergency was declared by the mayor this morning, the situation on River 
road has deteriorated overnight. We have a team on the scene to try to fill the road as much as possible to give the residents
the chance to evacuate. Please call the municipality at 819-986-3199 ext. 3 if you need help to evacuate or
for emergency accommodation if you have no other recourse to help you stay safe. For the Burke road sector, the road remains completely closed east of Monaghan Road
for an indefinite period. We have an team on site to repair portions of Burke Road and Monaghan Road to ensure the
safety of residents and not be isolated from the road network.

The River Road is now closed between the following addresses: 361 and 521 because of flooding. The detour is through Route 315, Smallian Road and Burns Road. 


The residents who live between 361 and 521 on the River Road might get isolated because of the flood. We recommend you relocate with family or friends until the road re-opens. If this is not possible for you, and that you want to leave your residence, please call the municipality at 819-986-3199 ext 3. Representatives of the Red Cross are at the municipal office today (Friday April 17) until 7:00 p.m. to offer assistance to those affected by the flood.

HELP FOR FAMILIES (Permanent residents)


In 2019, the municipality wants to encourage youth activities and help families to this end.

 

Have you registered your child or children in an artistic or sports activity? You can be reimbursed for up to $100 per child (0–17) per year.

 

Just complete the form (available online or at the municipality), submit the original invoice with the child’s name included on it, and a proof of residence. You can bring your application directly to the municipal office or mail it to us.

 

Each application will be considered internally. Additional supporting documentation may be requested.
